PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 277 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (June 4), bringing the total number of infections to 8,247 cases.

Only two were imported cases, while the others were local transmissions.

Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) said the local transmissions involved 271 foreigners and four Malaysians.

He said 270 of the cases were from the Bukit Jalil detention centre.

He added that the country saw no Covid-19 deaths for the 13th consecutive day. The death toll remains at 115.

Dr Noor Hisham also said 28 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, with a total of 6,559 patients discharged since the Covid-19 outbreak began, or at a 79.5% recovery rate.

There are currently 1,573 active cases being treated at the country’s health facilities.

"Currently, six patients are being treated at the intensive care unit (ICU), with two of them on ventilator support," he said during his daily press briefing on Thursday.
