Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has set up a Task Force to investigate claims of misappropriation in the distribution of RM100 Food Aid Packs to the poor and needy during the Covid-19 shutdown.

This came following photos trending on social media claiming that people were getting essential items worth less than RM100. The aid packs are given by the State Government to every constituency.  “We have received information on the issue and a Task Force has been established at the State-level to monitor revenue and distribution of such food aid as reported,” said Sabah MACC Director Karunanithy Y Subbiah in a statement Tuesday.

“MACC will continue to work with the State Government in making sure the help is available to the public without any leakage,” he said, adding investigations are underway.
