Kota Kinabalu: Tawau has been declared Sabah’s first Covid-19 Red Zone area because the district topped the number of positive cases as well as recorded a substantial increase in cases, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.  

However, he said, both the outbreak and increase did not originate in the district but was brought in from outside like by members of the Tabligh (Islamic movement) who attended a major gathering in Kuala Lumpur about a month ago.
